Thank you, Dante and Aaron, for giving me a wonderful Mother’s Day! We visited Logee’s Tropical Plants (my favorite nursery/garden center) and then went on to Providence, RI since we were so close.
I enjoyed using my macro lens. Actually, I had a lot of fun with the macro and got some nice shots. Sometimes I surprise myself!
I finally shot with Vermeer, my brand new Pentax K-1. I got out to the greenhouse this morning, watered the plants, added some mist, and away we went. I was using the 100 mm macro lens and the Pentax 540 flash. It might not be purple, but what a great fucking camera. Also, I really like succulents and have about 20 of them.
On Thursday I visited Magic Wings, a butterfly conservatory out in MA. Although I retired the purple Pentax while there, I luckily had a backup: the Pentax K-x with the broken LCD screen, that I’d recently “punked-out”. In other words, I have a steampunk camera that functions flawlessly, except for the LCD. I know it’s on ISO 200 and I can control the shutter speed and aperture. I hooked up an external flash and away we went! It looks cool as shit and here are the photos it took when the purple camera failed.
I’ll be mourning the purple one for a while. Maybe until the K-1 comes in.
My tea plant flowered! I like to think this is Lapsang’s way of saying, “thank you for taking proper care of me”. The plant’s name is Lapsang, after the famous smoked black tea, because I am a crazy lady who names her favorite plants.
